Foldables have been done by numerous tech giants, however, Samsung is already in the sixth generation of its Galaxy Z Fold, Google is on the second Pixel Fold while Apple is nowhere even near entering the game.

Nothing unusual; Apple has always been known to roll its features and designs later than others or sometimes never at all; for instance, it has never had an under-display fingerprint sensor.

But here come the rumors about the folding devices of Cupertino and most recently, they hinted that mass production could begin next year.

What might be the first foldable products that Apple will come up with?

Analysts at GF Securities recently unearthed a research note on Apple that indicated that Apple’s first two folding phones were just launched for New Product Introduction at Foxconn, as reported by MacRumours. In this note, Pu said that the foldable devices might get into early prototyping as early as April 2026 and would go to mass production by the second half of 2026.

Now don’t get too excited, however, because Pu did not give any specific particulars about the two foldable devices, although it is speculated to be the first foldable iPhone and a foldable iPad. Many rumors have circulated about the foldable iPhone in recent times, with some of the last reports describing it as having an aspect ratio a bit different from the current folding phones out there, and potentially offering an 8-inch inner display.

Rumor also has it that the folding iPad could have up to a 19 inch display when it is finally opened, making it much bigger than iPad Air and iPad Pro which max out at 13 inches.

If Pu’s analysis is true and mass production begins at the end of 2026, then we might see the announcement of folding iPhone and folding iPad in the second half of 2026 or early 2027. Of course, none of these has been officially confirmed by Apple, so take this news with a pinch of salt until there is something more concrete to suggest these products are hitting production phase, but we sure are keeping our fingers crossed.
